Fiber Access Partners
Marconi Federal Communications sells the Carrier Access Broadmore and Wide Bank 28 product lines into federal government applications. In particular, the Broadmore provides access for low-speed gateway applications, such as bringing legacy time-division multiplexing services and legacy cryptography onto high-speed packet networks which Marconi Federal Communications typically supplies. Other applications, including support for storage area applications, Voice over IP (VoIP), streaming video transmission, Gigabit Ethernet services, and grid and cluster computing are also jointly offered. Combining the strengths of Marconi Federal Communications and Carrier Access products creates Military Grade Enterprise networks, developed mainly for U.S. government organizations whose operating environments require wide area communications networks that deliver the highest possible performance, security and reliability.
Alcatel provides end-to-end communications solutions, enabling carriers, service providers and enterprises to deliver content to any type of user, anywhere in the world. Alcatel and Carrier Access are providing operators with greater flexibility and increased product choices with interoperability between Alcatel’s 7340 Fiber-to-the-User (FTTU) Passive Optical Network (PON) product line and the Carrier Access Exxtenz optical network terminal (ONT) for business applications. This partnership strengthens the value proposition of fiber-based broadband network technologies. Both the Alcatel and Carrier Access equipment is based on the ITU-T G.983 broadband PON (BPON) standard, and the combination is a first in the industry.
