Optimization
Mobile operators are continually seeking ways to reduce operational expenses (OPEX) and increase ARPU (Average Revenue per User). Due to the large costs of T1/E1 transport, which can be 20-30% or more of an operator’s OPEX, the backhaul network is a prime target for cost savings. However, increasing ARPU typically requires offering additional enhanced data services, which correspondingly increases an operator’s bandwidth needs and thus produces seemingly contradictory demands on the network. Fortunately, the FLEXengine™ software from Carrier Access® provides a solution, enabling operators to optimize their A.bis traffic by as much as 50% or more without impacting the quality of the service, mean opinion score (MOS), or the end-user experience. Through aggregation and optimization of the 2G and 3G traffic, existing bandwidth can be made available now to handle the increasing bandwidth requirement, allowing the operator to both save money now and defer the timeline on adding additional circuits. This innovative, patented, low-latency solution can be implemented inside the network either through Carrier Access hardware solutions, various partners’ hardware solutions, or a combination of both.
